Pálinka carries the taste of the fruit as well as the taste and the expertise of its creator. When you drink pálinka, you can experience clear, fruity, flowery and spicy fragrances that go together with characteristic, harmonious and long-lasting fruity aromas.
Pálinka is a fruit distillate that is made in Hungary 100% from fruits, by fermenting the natural sugar contents of the fruits and by distilling the mash produced in this manner.
Stipulation number 1-3-1576/89 of the Hungarian Food Book – effective as of 1 July 2002 – says that the term PÁLINKA may only be used for products that fulfil the following requirements:
- 100% fruit distillates, i.e. they are NOT made by adding refined alcohol and aroma.
- They have an alcohol degree of at least 37.5%.
In accordance with the legal regulations of the European Union, the word “pálinka” (spelled with “á” and “k”) may only be used by Hungary and by four Austrian provinces.
